goal 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
When she was just four years old, Mikaila Ulmer got stung by two bees in one week. After her mother attempted to turnt he scary experience into a learning experience, Mikaila learned that bees could possibly become extinct in the years to come. "And then it clicked!" she said. Mikaila decided to create a lemonade business and sweeten her lemonade with honey instead of sugar or artificial sweetener, which would be healthier, save the bees, and support beekeepers. At just 9 years old, she appeared on the TV Show Shark Tank, where she received a $60,000 deal. Her company, Me & the Bees, grew, leading her to land an 11 million dollar deal with Whole Foods. Mikaila has served lemonade to former president Barack Obama, is a part of Google's Dare to be Digital campaign and is now leading workshops on how to save the honeybees.
